Pacific Crest Trail

Pacific Crest Trail - Resupply strategy Part 2
This is part 2 of my resupply guide for the PCT. We are about to finish the state of California and head into Oregon and Washington.

Pacific Crest Trail - Resupply strategy Part 1
I think the most overwhelming thing, other than walking for 5 months non-stop, is the question of what do I eat, and where do I get food? Especially if this is your first time in the US it can be really overwhelming. How many days should we carry food? How much food do we need? How do I get into town? Should I send packages? There are so many questions and so many ways of doing this.

PCT - Northern California
Hiking Northern California was an adventure that can easily be described with one word. Snow. With one of the highest Snow years in PCT history up until this point, there were a lot of challenges we had to face while hiking this section. From postholing up to our hips, seeing a member of my trail family slide down a mountain and self arresting or needing almost 4 hours to warm up my toes, the snow was our biggest challenge yet. Mentally and physically.

My favourite recipes on trail
When the hiker hunger hits, but we can only carry the basics on a long thruhike, we need to get creative to find recipes that keep us entertained but fueled. Here are my top 6 recipes I prepared, pretty much on repeat, while being out on trail.

Thru Hiking Lingo
HYOH, Camel up, Tramily are all words that you will hear on a long distance trail. But what does it all mean? Use this quick guide to understand the language and be ready to implement them on your next hike.

PCT - The desert
What do you imagine when you think about the desert? A wide, dry wasteland with sand wherever you look. No shade to hide under and no water. The sun high up in the sky, burning down on you while you wipe the salty sweat out of your face. You walk in a straight line for hours in search of a good place to set up camp. The hallucinations continue, and you realize your mind is playing games. The desert is not flat and dry.

My PCT Gear List
Hiking through the wilderness for more than 5 months is definitely a challenge. Preparing for such an adventure is exciting and nerve wrecking. What to take or what not. In the end, we do have to carry everything on our backs. It can't be too heavy, but in the end we still want to be comfortable. Find out what I took to combine lightweight and comfortable.
