Sweden: Rigeleje Strand Camping > Landön

I woke up incredibly relaxed this morning and took Sierra out for a little walk around the campsite, beach and nearby area. There is something really magical when you are the only one awake and get to sit next to the beach and watch the waves crash on the sandy shores. As beautiful as It was, I did not fancy another dip in the morning to wake me up. I love the ocean, but this part of the world seas is soooo cold. I have not yet mastered the art of cold plunges and ice baths. Yes, I am a Sissi, and I am proud of it. I still need my limbs and can't have them turn into frozen popsicles. So I returned to my tent to grab a breakfast bar and start packing away my things.

Once breakfast was done, water filled up and the bikes packed we took off. I was so excited because Sierra was feeling a lot better and was now able to stretch her legs and run next to the bike. I love to let her run first thing in the morning. It is when she has the most energy and is way less grumpy in the trailer when she gets a bit of exercise in before. A tired dog is a happy dog. This morning was the first time we were able to let her embrace that new-found routine, and boy oh boy did she run. It was so fun to see her so excited and make the best use of the soft ground right alongside the ocean. Once we started heading towards the road, she jumped back into the trailer, and we enjoyed the flat section into Åhus.

I do have to say that Åhus is such a beautiful little town. Even though I did not get a chance to explore much of it, I fell in love. The houses, colors and tidiness was not was I expected Sweden to look like but yet expected Sweden to look like.

The bike path led us right through the city center and alongside some more local streets and sights. What I really appreciate about this town is the though out bike lanes. As many streets are covered in cobblestone, it was really nice to have smooth paths run alongside the bumpy roads. I am pretty sure Sierra did appreciate it more than myself. Before leaving town, we did stop at a supermarket real quick because we had to get a couple of things. The wind started picking up, and I knew the upcoming storm front we saw on the forecast was not going to be fun.

The road into Landön was really nice. I did come to appreciate the flat sections and roads as it is a lot easier to pull the trailer. Once we reached the campsite, which turned out to be a bit of a fancy one, I decided to take Sierra for a longer walk around the area to explore the cute little harbor and neighborhood. She even had a chance to go for a swim, as the campsite does have a small beach designated for dogs. As a reactive dog owner I do only recommend during off season, as there is really not much space but as we were the only ones, we did not have to worry about that. The rest of the afternoon was for resting and eating food. I finally felt the need to eat, snack and fill my tummy. Today's treat was a yellow pepper, Alicia carried out. I usually don't like green or yellow peppers, but if you don't see a lot of fruits or vegetables, suddenly the things you normally don't eat turn into the most delicious foods in the world.
